What's not working? What do you want to work differently?

Oops... I broke the shoutbox. At least on mobile, the Send button doesn’t work, and hitting enter doesn’t submit the message. I’ll have to figure it out later.

Well...this is a strange one. I'm suddenly seeing usernames displaying in different colors.

Oh jeez... Looks like it’s making odd and even post numbers different colors. How the hell did that happen, lol. I’ll have to dig into it later.
Edit: Fixed. I have no idea why it started doing that when nothing at all had been changed, but hopefully it's resolved now.

Info and Stats section is all messed up for guests. This is what it looks like for them: This is what it looks like for Members: No idea what's causing this, or how to fix it at the moment. Just logging this for future reference, though it's not a high priority right now (sorry guests, but you should really just join the site ;) ).

I've consolidated several categories. The forum can always be expanded later, as it grows, but it's really not necessary to have a lot of categories right now. Also, the site is going to expand its reach slightly, and cover game design as a whole. Level design is still my primary area of interest, but level design and game design are very closely related, and it makes sense to cover both I think.
I'm definitely open to suggestions on anything at all at this point, so everyone should feel free to speak up if you have thoughts on how the site can be improved. Also, please feel free to let anyone interested in level design or game design know about the site. The more the merrier.

Not sure if this will resolve the issue of invisible tweets for everyone, but here's a quote regarding the issue with Chrome that may resolve it for some: support.proboards.com/post/7092768/threadThere are instructions for Firefox in that thread as well. Also be sure that you don't have any addons enabled that block social media sites.

Some feedback and suggestions coming from my personal user experience and usability engineering background:
- Alerts ("name" replied to thread/quoted you) are three clicks away
That's a lot of time and effort for the stuff you care most about when signing in. You immediately want to know, if someone answered you back etc.. That information is "hidden" in Profile > Notifications > Actual link. You want to make as easy and comfortable for the user to access the important stuff.
- Interests only show likes you received and don't go away, if you do not manually uncheck every single alert
There's kind of a redundancy going on here, where you already see all the likes, when you go to the notifications. I kind of want to suggest an alternate top menu to you, which would be more straightforward, less jammed and less redundant. Let me cut right to the case, where I go over each box:
These are all ok and reasonable. I would eventually put Search in front of Help, since, if you put it in the third place (= the third important thing), you unconsciously tell the users that you made a chaotic website, where they need the help to correctly navigate around; which obviously they shouldn't have trouble with and 99% of the cases don't have.
I would fuse these two together, since you do the same thing in both. You search for something. When you click on Search you would get to the current Search site, just with an additional option at the top saying "Search Members" or "Members" and then you can toggle between those two.
Removing this box and adding the link to your actual forum name on the right would reduce the boxes, the needed reading time of the top menu and make it less jammed/better to look at. Everyone makes him/herself a name on the forum. If I want to go to my profile, where do I look first? The option Profile (hidden between nine options) or my own name (easily located through the bold highlight and the memory? Well, this is obviously not proved by any data, however I would think that in that moment the general user firstly looks to his/her name, since it's the thing he/she already knows, as he/she signed up with it and is personally attached to it.
Simply remove this. This box and Inbox are identical, but PM adds unnecessary space to the left, while Inbox is perfectly placed on the left, where you would look for any new notifications anyway. Furthermore the red number is a strong signifier, which makes the PM box on the left obsolete.
As already mentioned there's a redundancy problem going on with this box. I would remove this aswell, as the likes you receive are featured in your notifications.
Now, talking about the notifications, I would simply link the Notifications box on the right to the actual notifications tab in your profile. Basically the same thing you would do with the private messages. Now you only need two clicks to get to any notification, plus everything that has to do with alerts and your profile is now on the right side, on one side. Easier to look at and easier to navigate. The changed top menu would look like this:
Home Forum Recent Posts Search Help account name (Logout) - Inbox 0 | Notifications: 0
The New box can be removed aswell, as it does not serve any purpose other than showing you what the Notifications box already shows you. You could make the number next to Notifications the same green as the current New, so people connect the alerts with something positive.
Overally, boxes down from 9 to 5 on the left. Forum on the left, everything that has to do with you on the right. Redundancy removed, navigation time improved.

Some feedback and suggestions coming from my personal user experience and usability engineering background: Feedback Great feedback buddy! Thank you for typing that up. Let me first say that I'm in total agreement with everything you've suggested. The primary challenge I'm facing is the inherent restrictions of this forums template. A lot of the suggestions are either impossible. Not all is lost though. I can implement some of your suggestions. I'll go through them briefly: Alerts - The only thing I can do here is eliminate the redundancy. The 'Interests' are not included with the software by default. They're an addon that I incorporated for a reason that I can't remember, lol. I believe that as I looked through the list of notifications that came with it, it covered some gaps that are there without it, but I can't recall specifics right now, and I've not noticed any glaring gaps after using the forum for a while now. I'll probably do a trial run without 'Interests'. I cannot reduce the steps to get to notifications. That's not to say that it's completely impossible - I just don't know how, and haven't found anything online that would allow this. I can do some investigation to see if there's a way. Menu Bar - I can and will reorder the categories. I don't believe it's possible to combine Search and Members, but again, I'll look into it. Same goes for profile - I'm not sure if it's possible to roll that into the username, but I'll try to find out. Interests and Private Messages can be removed (they can always come back in the future if there's a need). Not sure about the Notifications section on the far right either. I'll look into that too. If the forum picks up in activity to a point where it seems like a reasonable investment, I'll upgrade to a more professional looking and user friendly site. In the meantime, I'll do what I can with what I'm working with. Thanks again for the feedback. I really appreciate it. )

buddy jumps, purelyfat, I just realized when you see a number next to your profile indicating that you have a notification, clicking on the 'Profile' text brings you to your main Profile page. However, clicking on the number brings you directly to the notification page.

Yeah, I haven't spent time putting together a list or bothered to reads buddy but there are spots on the site where it opens new tabs rather than just taking you to the page.

Yeah, I haven't spent time putting together a list or bothered to reads buddy but there are spots on the site where it opens new tabs rather than just taking you to the page. That was primarily from the ‘Interests’ addon, which I’ve now disabled. Let me know if it’s still happening elsewhere and I’ll look into it.

buddy jumps , purelyfat , I just realized when you see a number next to your profile indicating that you have a notification, clicking on the 'Profile' text brings you to your main Profile page. However, clicking on the number brings you directly to the notification page. Oh wow, nice catch! So that problem of extra steps is non-existent, awesome.
Another thing, which does not seem to be working are bookmarks. I bookmarked the WAYWO for example, but when I logged in it didn't give me a notification that someone replied (and someone in fact replied)... Hmm.

I bookmarked the WAYWO for example, but when I logged in it didn't give me a notification that someone replied (and someone in fact replied)... Hmm. I've not used Bookmarks at all. I'll look into it. Also, check your settings to make sure you have them set to give you notifications on Bookmarks. There are options to be notified within the forum, via email, or both (I think).
