That's totally valid, I definitely struggle with visualising 3d space from 2d images :P
As for designing maps for CS:GO for a while, not really. I've been making maps for other games for a few years, but CS:GO specifically I've only started mapping in the last few weeks. I have played CS since waaaay back though so thought it was time to get stuck in with the Hammer editor :D

It's hard to tell much from a screenshot of 1 small section of a map, but that's kind of the point of a teaser I suppose. This is the 2v2 version of Marina I assume? Looks good.

I made a timelapse of me whiteboxing my CSGO map in Hammer, thought I'd share it here:
It's a super long video, so feel free to skip through if you want (or don't watch it at all, I'm not forcing you! :D)

I been wanting to jump into that CS community for map making just to have something else to do BUT time is so limited LOL. Is this something you might continue to work on?

cameron , I can't believe you've forced us all to watch your time-lapse. Not cool bud. On a serious note, I have to say that it's really hard to follow with how much it's sped up. Would recommend adding some background music next time also. The map itself is looking good so far though. I like what I see. Share more as you make more progress please.

Sethiroth , thanks :D it was really fun to make and when I started I'd forgotten how to use Hammer for the most part, so the video kinda shows me failing and repeating on not just the level design, but the tools I use as well :D I understand the time limit problem and yeah, I find it hard when I've got HUNDREDS of things I wanna do but unfortunately I can't do them all :( I'll probably be leaving this project here in terms of visuals, but will still be doing a few playtests here and there to tweak bits and bobs. I've taken it as far as I want to, and have moved onto my next thing (which I'll share next week probably) :D a Chunk , yeah definitely is sped up too much, I wanted to get the whole process in (which was about 25hours) and tried to keep it as short as possible :D sorry! I've actually moved onto my next map, as this one was just a look into getting used to Hammer again... now I'm faster, I'm set my sights on some more complex stuff :D Will share soon

I've been building this for stormy, and switched it to clear just to see what it would look like. The colors popped and some of the lights became unnecessary. Only downside is that I don't get to use sideways lightning or the thunder fx, and the interior spaces don't have true blacks, but more like 50% grey. I don't know what I'll use yet, but if I run out of objects, I can save some with clear lighting

I think I prefer this version, but I reserve the right to change my mind once I see the interiors.

cameron i agree its sped up too much. Maybe if you slowed it down a cut out some of the less important stages of creating the layout? Either way it was cool, but i wish you just walked through the map at the end, because id like to the see lines of sight and connectivity.

It doesn't seem too fast to me, but that might be simply from some experience with Hammer back when it chugged at 5 frames per second on my old laptop lmao
