Welcome to our weekly wrap up of all things level design (that have taken place outside of NLD).
We're going to kick it off with the winner of Community Favorites over at Forgehub. Community Favorites is a an opportunity for members to vote on their favorite map released on the site within the previous month. The people's champ this time around is Bathos, a 1v1 level from Pat Sounds.
Staying with Halo's forge mode, this fantastic video showcasing some of the best forge maps of 2018 was released by Ascend Hyperion this week:
Over on Mapcore, we saw update to several WIP's. Here's a look at a couple of them:
St. Malo: After a lengthy break, gamez7 is back at work on this 5v5 Bomb Defusal map for CS:GO, and shared some progress pics:
Anuanuraro by Samir is another CS:GO map, built for the Wingman gametype:
kek9z showed off his first ever prop, a banana, in the Random Model Thread, and then showed us what happened when he made it slippery: imgur.com/a/IzDQ4Rd
On Reddits r/leveldesign, there were a few interesting discussions started up:
How did you become a level designer?
How do you start your level design process?
Transitioning from Art to Design
Max Pears puts out regular content on his Youtube channel, Level Design Lobby. One of the videos this week was on Shape Theory, and is well worth your time:
On Twitter, Romain Barrilliot shared the news that a 15 map pack had been released on Quaketastic, in celebration of the new year:
FortniteHub brought us this WIP from Advancedvideo.
This looks much more interesting than anything I had expected to see from Fortnite's new Creative Mode, and I'll definitely be continuing the look out for more interesting levels like this.
While this isn't news from the past week, I also want to mention that there's currently a $1,500.00 Map Contest underway on FortniteHub. It will be interesting to see the content it generates from the Fortnite Community.
With that, we conclude our weekly wrap up. I'm absolutely certain that I've missed things that are worthy of attention, so I'd love it if you share anything you found interesting from the past week here in this thread.
