Im grateful for these in retrospect to learn from and everything but man, are these rookie to look at now. The FPS industry really in its infancy showing itself through these blockouts being called "genius". Yikes. Glad to learn from these though. There's some stuff that I think still holds up pretty well. Zanzibar is very good for what it was designed to be (one sided objective). Headlong is a solid design. The main takeaway for me is the thought process more than the actual designs. I see so many designers get attached to designs and not want to make any changes. For them, there's real value in understanding that even the maps they may consider 'iconic' went through a process, and changed over time. In the same vein, it would be great if it encourages people to put more thought into the planning stages of their projects. These 1-page breakdowns are a good idea as a starting point:

These 1-page breakdowns are a good idea as a starting point: Yeah as time goes I think the BTB Halo maps have held up much better than the core count ones. There's a lot to love with sandtrap, valhalla, and as you mentioned Zanzibar / Last Resort.
