So, Box, Salty, and I do one hour challenges where we have to have a playable 1v1/2v2 map done in an hour. It is a fun exercise especially when exploring ideas that you haven't had the time to flush out completely or design concepts that you might consider not worthy of putting a lot of time into because of possible failure. Even though you should never be scared of failure but nobody wants to put too much time into something that might not bare enough fruit.

Sounds like a great idea. I've done something similar, except not really worrying about making it playable even. It helps sometimes to work on designs without worrying about the end result much. Helps free up your imagination, and prevents over-thinking. It would be awesome if you shared some of the creations that have resulted from this.

It is just called tidal. FYI I was buzzing pretty hard when I did it.

I did this with box a while back, glad other people are trying it. It's seriously fun and great practice.

I just wish I could find a full hour to work on something. I can't even remember the last time that happened. Would be cool at some point (assuming there were enough people who would participate) to do a 1 Hour Mapping Contest. The people who submit maps get to vote for the winner (can't vote for your own, obviously). I don't have the money to fund contests at this point, but I'd be happy to feature the winner if we could make it happen. purelyfat, westin, MultiLockOn, Soldat Du ChristNot sure how many people might be interested from Twitter. It may actually provide some incentive for more people to join the site and participate. In that case, it would no longer be a forge-specific contest, which could be interesting. Probably could work with some basic criteria put in place. Not sure how to enforce a time limit though, lol. Requiring a recording would be the most obvious way, but I don't expect that would go over very well...

I'll be making a bunch of 1h designs sometime in the following few weeks. Should it be exclusively geometry+weapons or literally every aspect of the map?

So when we do a 1 hour challenge the map has to be playable and everything at the end of it. The only way you could enforce it by either having submit a recording of the process or have someone supervise them. Really isn't something that works well for a contest but works better as a practice tool because the idea is to give the person as little time as possible to problem solve.
